Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What types of services do you offer?

Yes. All staff are trained, insured, and screened through thorough background checks. Depending on the service, care may be provided by a PSW, Housekeeper, Companion, or specialized team member (such as a Death Doula). We match caregivers based on experience, skills, and personality to ensure the best possible fit.

We offer a wide range of non-medical home care services including Personal Support Worker (PSW) care, respite care, companionship, housekeeping, brain changes & memory support, holistic health & wellbeing, after-surgery care, and palliative/end-of-life care with the support of a certified Death Doula. All services are customized to your unique needs.

Are your caregivers trained and insured?

Yes. All staff are trained, insured, and screened through thorough background checks. Depending on the service, care may be provided by a PSW, Housekeeper, Companion, or specialized team member (such as a Death Doula). We match caregivers based on experience, skills, and personality to ensure the best possible fit.

Do you offer medical or nursing care?

Not at this time. 613HCS provides non-medical home care. This means we can support daily activities, comfort, wellbeing, routines, and emotional support, but we do not perform medical procedures such as injections, wound care, or nursing assessments.
We often work alongside healthcare providers to ensure seamless overall support.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Ottawa and surrounding communities. If you are outside the core area, reach out and we can let you know what options are available.

How do your rates work?

Yes. All staff are trained, insured, and screened through thorough background checks. Depending on the service, care may be provided by a PSW, Housekeeper, Companion, or specialized team member (such as a Death Doula). We match caregivers based on experience, skills, and personality to ensure the best possible fit.

Rates vary by service type, length of visit, and caregiver role. PSW care, housekeeping, companionship, and specialty supports each have different hourly rates. We typically recommend 2–3 hour minimum visits, but longer shifts and overnights are available. We offer transparent pricing with no long-term contracts.

Do you accept insurance or third-party funding?

Yes. We work with all levels of insurance, private benefit plans, and various third-party funders. We can provide documentation to support reimbursement and are happy to help families navigate coverage questions.

What is the minimum length of visit?

We recommend a 2–3 hour minimum, depending on the service. This ensures enough time to complete tasks safely, build rapport, and provide meaningful support. Some services, such as PSW care, respite, and after-surgery care, can extend to 8+ hours or overnights.

How quickly can services start?

Typically, we’re able to start support very quickly, often within 24–48 hours. For urgent situations, we do our best to arrange same-week or next-day support. Earlier requests typically allow for better caregiver matching.

Can the same caregiver come each time?

Yes. All staff are trained, insured, and screened through thorough background checks. Depending on the service, care may be provided by a PSW, Housekeeper, Companion, or specialized team member (such as a Death Doula). We match caregivers based on experience, skills, and personality to ensure the best possible fit.

Yes, we do our best to prioritize caregiver consistency, especially for memory support, personal care, and palliative/end-of-life services. When schedules allow, we match clients with a primary caregiver or a small supportive team.

Do you help with personal care such as bathing, dressing, or toileting?

Yes. Our PSWs provide respectful, safe support with bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, transfers, mobility, and daily routines. Housekeepers and companions do not perform personal care, but PSWs and trained caregivers do.

What tasks are included in companionship or respite care?

Companionship includes conversation, social engagement, outings, games, walks, hobbies, light meal prep, and supportive presence. Respite care allows caregivers time to rest while we supervise, engage, and support their loved one safely at home.

What is your cancellation policy?

We request 24 hours’ notice to cancel a visit. This ensures fairness to both families and caregivers. Special circumstances are always considered.
